CECIL KIMBER
MG was the singular vision of British automotive engineer and motorsport enthusiast, Cecil Kimber. Born in 1888, he became an influential figure in the history of MG (also referred to as Morris Garages), playing a pivotal role in transforming MG from a small car dealership into a renowned sports car manufacturer. Kimber's innovative ideas and keen marketing sense led to the development of iconic MG models like the Midget series. He introduced the concept of affordable, performance-oriented sports cars, making MG a household name in the automotive world. Kimber's vision for MG extended beyond engineering; he fostered a strong sense of community among MG enthusiasts, founding the MG Car Club in 1930. His legacy endures through the continued popularity and admiration for MG sports cars worldwide and the iconic octagonal badge. Cecil Kimber remains a celebrated entrepreneur, engineer and motoring visionary who made significant contributions to the British automotive industry. Kimber died in 1945 leaving behind a legacy synonymous with the small British Sportscar that still survives to this day.
